My first job was a financial analyst for a large contracting agency. I immediately felt the anxiety of being a cog in a corporate wheel. Seeking to do more, I identified my forecasting team’s manual process could be simplified with technology. In my spare time, I learned how to write macro’s in Visual Basic to build a reporting structure that removed the task of 7 Forecasters. The result completely changed the operations of the largest contract for the NSA (~$1b), made over $1m award to the program, and awarded me employee of the month as an entry level analyst for a ~6k person program full of intense engineers for the NSA.
However, I realized I knew my passions were more in cutting edge technology. I found a sales job with LevelUp (acquired by Grubhub). My first sales role, and claim to fame was acquiring the Sweetgreen account. This account completely catalyzed the entire quick service mobile payment industry.
From there, I attempted my first crack at starting my own company - a mobile payment app we called Grub Beat. I learned the hard way an idea doesn’t necessarily put $100k in your bank account.
My growing interest in mobile payment apps led me to the POS industry, and a new project became the DC Sales lead with a Groupon owned restaurant POS app called Breadcrumb. I learned no matter the size of a company it’s very difficult to find the right go-to-market strategy with disruptive technology in a dated industry.·
My passion then lead me to a new project, an experiential event technology company - Event Farm. Event Farm’s vision has been to use technology to shape consumer experiences and simultaneously providing a seamless way to collect data and reduce the constant friction of event production.
I began here as a sales rep, but then started the business development team (out of necessity and passion to learn something new). A strong understanding of experiential technology sales lead me to find a successful “anti-sales” approach to business development by leveraging authentic interpersonal skills. This evolved into my next role as the Head of Partnerships.
In addition to maintaining our Tier 1 client relationships, I’ve also helped produce some of the most tech advanced events (BeautyCon, Adidas 747, Nike Art Basel, Adobe Summit, JordanXLevi’s shoe launch).
I was responsible for nurturing our channel partnerships with personal monthly newsletter that leveraged a website I built around my experiences in the field.
